Advice

Okay Blogreaders...it is time to give solicited advice.

EG has to be rocked to sleep.  Sometimes it is sweet and loving and amazing and other times it is like she is trying to kill you with her discomfort.  Once she is asleep she can't be laid down unless it is night-time and she is in her co-sleeper.  She will stay in the co-sleeper up to 3 hours at night and only wake up to eat, get rocked, and placed back in the co-sleeper.

Is it time to move EG to her crib?  What will that look like?  How should we do that?  Should we stop rocking her to sleep?  Should we just lay her down when she falls asleep and deal with the consequences of that choice (her waking up and having a meltdown)?

Thoughts?  Advice?  Theories?  Remember she is only 6 weeks old....she is still brand new.

I have to admit, HP has spoiled us during the night, but naps we have real difficulties with.

The best thing we have learned for our little guy, is that he is light sensitive. Meaning, if there is any daylight coming in, he's not sleeping. Therefore, we purchased the downtime hat, and it has been worth every penny (downtimebaby.com). He takes longer naps (an hour vs. 20 minutes!), and if we're out to dinner or grocery shopping and he gets tired, we just throw it on and within minutes (sometimes seconds), he's gone. It has made all the difference in the world.

Of course, each kid is different, and HP preferred the vibrating chair compared to being rocked, so I apologize I can't help with the rocking portion of things. Do you have a swing? I've heard that you can leave them in a swing for naptimes.

It different for everyone, but if it makes you feel any better, the six week stage was the most difficult for us in terms of getting him settled and trying to figure out what he needed.

Hang in there!!

They say up to about 3 months, just get them to sleep any way you can. It's just a lot of trial and error. If you think she's sensitive to light, you could try this hat: http://www.downtimebaby.com/. We think it's magic. Almost always helps our boy fall asleep. Best of luck. She might just be in the difficult phase. For us, 5-10 weeks were the fussiest.
